DiGi’s Transformers Promo

One of the local Celco’s more or less always end’s up promoting the major summer blockbuster release every year. For the upcoming movie Transformers I stumbled across something that might hint at DiGi backing the movie whilst i was at DiGi’s HQ today. Take a look at what I found in their main car park:

Transformer Spoof

The sign in the picture above reads:

Reserved for Megatron
Park at Your Own Risk

The thing that really surprises me is how the build-up of the promotion is taking shape. This speak of ingenuity which just goes to show not all ads made by local Celco’s are worthless -in my opinion, DiGi has always been a great example in this case. Now I unsure if this is the shape of things to come in lieu for Transformer opening next week on the 28th – or if it’s just DiGi’s way of making a hilarious play on the opening – but I find it refreshing!

Speaking of ads that are refreshing have you check this out yet?

The Search For A Suitable Hosting Service

Now that a couple of months has passed I finally think that I’m ready to make the big push and get myself a proper blog setup with my own domain name and hosting service.

Why would I want to do that, you ask? Simple!

You see I really want to treat my blogging endeavors as a serious, albeit still fun to do, pastime. I intend very much to build up my blog featuring great content and at the same time learn to explore more on things like Wordpress (the nitty gritty side), SEO, blog branding and marketing and eventually monetizing my blog. However my passion is and will always be to provide top notch content that will keep my readers contented and  keep them coming back.

This is why I have come to the decision that I will have to get my own hosted domain and properly begin the journey to achieve my aspirations. To that effect I have already purchased my own domain and now I just have to get a suitable hosting service.  Since I’ve gotten my domain via Exabytes, – who by the way have an excellent track record and are a top notch business – I’m incline to go with them for my hosting services as well. After calling them sales rep, I’ve been informed that a single year subscription for the 5GB package will cost around RM199, with 2 years paid hosting coming up to RM 299.

Now I wouldn’t exactly say that the cost is way out of my budget range, though I was hoping that it was more affordable than that. However knowing that there always great deal going on the web in regards to hosting services, I just wondering if there’s anyone out there who knows of a more affordable hosting service besides Exabytes.

So to any and all Netizens out there – if you know of, or heard about a worthwhile hosting services available out there please drop by and post a comment to let me know.

My friend Cindy is leaving for JB where she’ll posted as houseman at Hospital Sultanah Aminah. Now this of course is not her first choice posting, nor even second for that matter, yet she has decided to give it her best and answer the call for her posting in JB.

So I would just like to do a shout out to Cindy and wish her all the best.

“Cindy before you know it 2 years will just pass like that. So stay strong, be safe, don’t work to hard (i know, i know houseman and all that), take care of yourself and most importantly – You can do it! ” says me

Goodbye Dr. Burke

Dr. Burke of Greys Anatomy

It’s official. The words out that the character Dr. Preston Burke, portrayed by Isaiah Washington , of Grey’s Anatomy fame will not be returning for Season 4 of the series. If you’re not familiar with the series Grey’s Anatomy – may I ask what stone have you been under all this time?

Well for the uninitiated, Grey’s Anatomy, is the award winning television series that portray a drama centered on the personal and professional lives of five surgical interns and their supervisors. And they have such a nice tagline that goes by ” Operations. Relations. Complications.” Both simple and in the same time complex, yet realistic.

It is sad news indeed when you hear that one of your favorite characters will not be making an appearance in the series you love. For me, the character of Dr. Burke has always represented what a tried and true medical doctor would seem in the real world. His ‘its-not-all-fun-and-games’ attitude bring a refreshing presence in the series where, even though its fun, tends to somewhat blow out of proportion the amount of sexual and relationship tension.

Hey I get it that medical doctors and housemen are human beings too, but what is it with everyone either sleeping with someone else or looking to get into the pants of some other character or rather. Understandably though is that all this happens in an equally engaging storyline – and that’s what keep me hooked to the series.

Now that we are going to lose the great Dr. Preston Burke, I can’t help but wonder who will be the one to step in and so to say, fill in his shoes.

So I wish Isaiah a fond farewell, and good sailing where ever the winds take him. Thanks you for a splendidly good time while it lasted.

Chasing Dreams

Isn’t it funny that a man can go through the whole day looking for inspiration, only to find that which he searches for at the moment he least expects it?

I’ve spend half the day yesterday looking high and low for inspiration. Inspiration on what to write about in my blog. Inspiration for matters in my life that I have to face. Sadly the inspirations I aspired for alluded me.

Finally at the end of the day, as I shut off my room light and snuggled into my bed, my thoughts begin to run wild and I couldn’t really get on with attaining that blissful state called sleep. More and more I began running down all the many dozens of lines of thought in my mind. Thus did I come upon an inspiration of sorts. What exactly that inspiration is, I myself am hard press to say let alone describe it here.

As any decent tale goes, we must have a beginning. Well my beginning is here.

Such is the case that every other day I find myself, in retrospect, slogging through my usual routines – i.e. wake up, get to work and put my time in, get back, spend some time either blogging, surfing and then my reading session before I hit the sack and end the day. This is what everyone, more or less, goes through on a daily basis. For some this is enough and thus are they are content with life. However for me, this is never the case. My case is as such because whatever I may be doing, there are these moments in between when I begin to wonder, look inside myself and try to envision my path in life. It is these very moments that afford me my greatest inspirations and it is also these moments that are at the same time my bane. They can be the sweet torment that you do not realize to be eating away at you bit by bit.

You see I consider myself to be a very capable dreamer. Sure anyone can build castles in the sky, but I seem to have the singular skill at build many a fine and most detailed castles of my own. These castles are in effect my dreams and my hopes. These dreams of mine take many a shape but mostly they can be categorized into the following:

  • Migrate away from Malaysia, to somewhere like Canada – because I don’t want to be ‘stuck‘ here for the rest of my life!
  • Put serious effort into my blogging endeavors and commit to it – yup commitment issue and all that
  • Look for that one great idea that can allow me to kick off my own business.
  • Start putting down the great ideas that sometime pop into my head about writing my own fantasy series – Harry Potter move aside.

Of course those are just the somewhat realistic kind of dreams. The other dreams are of the nonsensical type – like having the powers like that of my favorite anime character, or even something on the level on the characters in Heroes, …, etc (now you know how cuckoo I am)

So what the problem?

Well as with every dream or goal, taking the first step towards it is what get you on the journey towards that dream or goal. This is in effect where time and time again I fumble. I rarely take the first step and even when I do manage move my proverbial feet … I don’t seem to follow through.

Take for example my dream to migrate away from Malaysia. A year ago I began to think that this was  is what I wanted and needed to do. I did my research on options for migration to Canada. I gave myself a timeline of a year to come to some sort of decision. Yet today, close to a year after, I am still nowhere near to any sort of decision in this matter. I have consider my options to some degree, yet I haven’t settle on a decision. Again after my first step, I have come to an utter stop. Maybe part of the problem in this case is that due to the fact that migrating away is a major major decision, one that can will have many percussions on various aspects of my life, that I continue to delay making any decision. Plus money is a major factor too!

So where does that leave me? And what has this to do with inspiration?

Well I don’t know myself. HAH – that sure got your boat rocking. Welcome to the great mystery of my life.

And So It Begins …

How would you feel, when someone who always spoke of the virtues of doing *top* grade work with our *best effort* seem to suddenly not take his own advice. Feel like pulling out your hair?

Welcome to my  ‘Week of Trouble’, thus do I name it, that kicked off to an irritable start today.

Long story short (cause I don’t want to re-live it again in my mind) my boss who has always pushed us and suffered onto us incredibly long winded speech concerning always contributing our best work no matter the situation has let the proverbial shit hit the proverbial fan, if you get my meaning!

The matter of it is that today he went and royally screwed the company’s chances at a tender submission by not completing the required work on time. Hence the early money ‘must-be-inrequest order made yesterday. The end product of our mad dash of getting ready the necessary document – documentation lacking quality and substance.

Hell if I was the person receiving these documentations and have to spend time going through it…. well suffice it to say I wouldn’t even have a decent opinion of a company that produces such hodge podge work. Just imagine what would our shabby documentation say at all about our system that we intend to sell to these very people.

Nuff Said! (PS: Something I learned from Ocean’s 13)

Dismaying Portent for The Week Yet to Begin

Uh-oh!!!! It’s 11.35pm on a Sunday and I just got a sms from my boss stating I’m to be present in the office at 8.45am.

What the hell, its still SUNDAY!

I do not want to think about work at all as of yet. Let me enjoy the last minutes of my weekend. Sigh…. the weeks’ not yet begun and already I have a bad feeling that it won’t be a good week for me.

Free Domain & Free Hosting at Sabahan

When I first read about the free domain & hosting giveaway at “Win a Free Domain & Free Hosting For Your WordPress Blog Contest”. I have to admit the first thought that cross my mind was… “It must be a scam”.

Yet I was still tempted enough click on the link and lo-and-behold I found myself at www.sabahan.com. Now having heard of Sabahan before, though I admit I have not yet set eyes on his blog before, my interest was piqued. More so the case when I read the blog’s tagline of “About Computer, Internet, Blogging, Marketting and Interesting Stuff” – I was positively psyched. To my delight, here was one of the top noted blogs in Malaysia and his niche area is exactly what I am very much interested in myself.

So having verified that this was in no way at all a scam, I was ecstatic to participate in this great contest. I mean how often is it that you actually hear of a blogger offering both Free Domain and Free Hosting services. Talk about Malaysia Blogger Boleh spirit! And all I had to do was write a post reviewing Sabahan blog. Then just sit back and hope (read: pray to God fervently) hat I’ll be one of the lucky entries out of every five entries to obtain the free giveaways.

No … I kid you not! Easy Peasy.

Thus I began to read up on some of Sabahan’s past postings and was pleasantly suprised at the amount of interesting posts that he had blogged on. Take for example his recent post on “How to Annoy Your Blog Readers with a Bad Webpage Design” which covers six big no’s–no’s for a webpage/blog design. Again this is very useful material especially since I myself am just kicking off my own blog. Additionally Sabahan also has many postings on monetizing blogs which is all the rage currently and seems to be the way to go for any serious blogger.

So if you want to get yourself a free hosting and a free domain to boot, head on over to Sabahan.

What’cha waiting for.

PS: Sabahan… Please help me to get out of Wordpress.com! The limitations are a pain in the you-know-where.

PPS: Incidentally … let me state my utmost love for the Wordpress platform in general. It’s just the hosting service that’s a cramp.

Tranformers In A Shoe

Movie tie-ins’ a norm today, most as specially with the major blockbuster movies of the summer. With the summer movie season in full swing, the likes of Spiderman 3 and Transformers are on the offing. With Spiderman 3 release this past week we’re soon looking forward to the highly anticipated release of Transformers.

Now this is not an animation movie nor is it a Japanese movie. Hollywood has taken up the challenge to make the motion picture adaption of the famous 90’s cartoon series. Helmed by Michael Bay of Armageddon & Pearl Harbor fame – Hollywood sure has pulled out all the stops on this one.

Still why wait till June to get a preview of your beloved Autobots or their nemisis the Decepticons in action. Why not get in on the action with your own movie memorabilia from Nike. The iconic footwear giant has come up with one of the most unique movie tie in, in my opinion, that might just sit well with the fans.

And what’s the great item(s) you ask?

Why there’s Nike shoes. The catch (there’s always a catch) – these are shoes that can transform into Transformers. Check out the pics below.

Optimus Prime (Convoy)

Optimus Prime – Leader of the Autobots

and …

Megatron

Megatron – Leader of the Decepticons

Nice.
